Herb Reierwood Brooklyn Park, MN • Reclaimed Wooden Trees

My father was a trained wood carver/furniture maker from a little island off the southern coast of Norway. He taught me how to use tools and passed on a love for woodworking.

I have used the skills learned from him in a variety of ways throughout the years.   I have a variety of sources where I find the repurposed wood I use for my “Dr Seussian” style trees.

I use Redwood, Douglas Fir, Hemlock, and Cedar, and each tree is cut freehand on a bandsaw to create an original, whimsical look. There are no patterns, each tree is unique. The coloring of the trees is a combination of staining and painting, with natural knots and wood grain adding to the charm.  I use a light glitter spray to give my trees a shimmer.

My wife, Sandy, and my old friend, Art Bjorngjeld, are a great help to me in this endeavor.  I hope you enjoy them!
